Nursing home and assisted living center healthcare providers are challenged to address issues of intimacy, sexuality, and dementia. A diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer s disease does not eliminate the human need for intimacy and sexual expression. This module will address common misconceptions, and approaches to appropriately meet the needs of patients with dementia/Alzheimer s Disease and explain techniques to family members/caregivers. Nurses, certified public health professionals, social workers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physicians are eligible to receive continuing education credit for this activity.
