The goal of this program is to improve assessment of blunt abdominal trauma (BAT), management of peripheral arterial injuries (PAIs), use of intravenous (IV) fluids in the intensive care unit (ICU), and management of delirium in the ICU. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Analyze the advantages and limitations of focused assessment with sonography for trauma (FAST) and computed tomogra-phy (CT) for evaluation of BAT.
2. Determine presence of a PAI through use of imaging modalities.
3. Apply surgical technique to repair PAIs.
4. Select appropriate IV fluids for patient resuscitation in the ICU.
5. Identify and manage delirium in the ICU.
