INFECTION CONTROL IN TOTAL JOINT REPLACEMENT/PEDIATRIC FOOT AND ANKLE INJURIES

The goals of this program are to prevent infection in total joint arthroplasty and improve management of ankle and foot injuries in young athletes. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Order appropriate laboratory testing to diagnose periprosthetic joint infection (PJI).
2. Differentiate between the management of acute and chronic PJI.
3. Implement appropriate intraoperative strategies for prevention of PJI.
4. Distinguish among the physical examination and imaging find¬ings for various foot and ankle injuries in young athletes.
5. Recommend appropriate treatment options for ankle and foot injuries in young athletes.
