Pregnancy is a time of increased risk to health of the mother and fetus. Healthcare providers need to be well versed on infection prevention prior to and during pregnancy. This module reviews actions to be taken prior to pregnancy to lay a healthy foundation for women and their fetus. The speaker also discusses common infections in pregnant women, how those infections may affect the mother and fetus, and ways to decrease the risk of such infections. She also reviews screening and treatment recommendations.
