The goal of this activity is to improve management of infectious and noninfectious bladder conditions. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Devise an appropriate antimicrobial regimen for the treatment of complicated and uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
2. Distinguish, investigate, and manage noninfectious bladder conditions such as interstitial cystitis.
3. Recognize the subset of patients appropriate for screening and treatment of asymptomatic bacteriuria as recommended by the Infectious Diseases Society of America guideline.
