Infectious Diseases Grand Rounds is designed to bring attention to the wide-spread antibiotic overuse in clinical practice and failure to obtain appropriate culture data which frequently complicates subsequent inpatient therapy in order to improve patient care within the division. This activity will help promote more targeted and judicious use of antimicrobials (performance), and will emphasize good practice in microbiological data collection (performance). This activity will also highlight areas where there have been significant recent changes (knowledge). It is designed to enhance the knowledge, competence, and performance of Mount Auburn Hospital clinicians, and improve patient outcomes. The course goal is to increase knowledge of Infectious Diseases, increase sophistication in use of antibiotics, and update knowledge and implementation of the most recent practice recommendations.
