The goal of this program is to improve the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and Kawasaki disease in children. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Evaluate for signs and symptoms of IBD in pediatric patients.
2. Utilize appropriate testing modalities for detection of infectious colitis, specifically Clostridioides difficile.
3. Treat iron deficiency in children with IBD.
4. Assess for Kawasaki disease in a symptomatic child with diagnostic laboratory findings.
5. Differentiate between the diagnostic criteria and clinical presentations of Kawasaki disease and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children.
