he goal of this program is to improve the perioperative optimiza tion of inpatients with inflammatory bowel disease, medical evalu ation of abnormal liver function tests, and management of ascites and spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. After hearing and assimilat ing this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Identify appropriate prehabilitation strategies for inpatients undergoing major intestinal surgery. 2. Implement enhanced recovery after surgery protocols. 3. Choose among the available diagnostic tests for hereditary hemochromatosis. 4. Evaluate the link between iron metabolism and liver function. 5. Assess serum and fluid albumin gradients to diagnose car diac ascites.
