1. Formulate a personalized nutrition prescription based on specific patient needs (oral supplementation versus tube feeds versus parenteral nutrition). 2. Select the appropriate therapeutic diet and nutrition supplements for patients on an oral diet. 3. Determine when enteral or parenteral nutritional support is indicated. 4. Select the appropriate enteral or parenteral nutrition access device. 5. Differentiate between polymeric, semi-elemental, and elemental tube-feeding formulas. 6. Identify potential complications for patients receiving enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support. 7. Identify patients at risk for refeeding syndrome and determine the appropriate advancement schedule for their nutrition support regimen. 8. Calculate a tube-feeding prescription. 9. Calculate prescriptions for total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and peripheral parenteral nutrition (PPN). 10. Initiate and advance tube feeds and select an appropriate infusion schedule. 11. Manage TPN infusions, including initiation, advancement to goal, and selecting the appropriate schedule. 12. Manage electrolyte and insulin requirements for patients on TPN. 13. Identify patients with malnutrition. 14. Generate basic daily calorie and protein goals for patients.
