Uncomplicated UTIs (uUTIs) are the most common indication for antibiotic prescriptions in the outpatient setting, with a lifetime incidence of 50%-60% in adult women and 20% in adult men. uUTIs, despite their commonality, cause significant physical and psychological distress, especially when the patient experiences persistent symptoms, emphasizing the importance for health care practitioners (HCPs) to understand the impact of uUTIs through a lens of patient burden, impact on patient quality of life (QoL), the unique patient risk factors for uUTI, and the implications of treatment failure. HCPs must manage patients while also practicing good antibiotic stewardship, so as to avoid the occurrence of bacterial drug resistance. In this 60 minute webcast, expert faculty will educate learners on the emerging therapies that may improve empiric management of their patients with uUTI, as well as developing strategies to manage individual patient needs, while practicing good antibiotic stewardship.
