Overview This 1.5-hour, interactive online module covers evidence-based treatments, screening tools, and implementation strategies, all aimed at improving care for patients with alcohol use disorder. Become equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively incorporate medications for alcohol use disorder (MAUD) and related services into your practice. Healthcare professionals in primary care settings will learn about evidence-based treatments, screening tools, and implementation strategies, all aimed at improving care for patients with alcohol use disorder. This module offers practical guidance in addressing this common but often undertreated condition, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and reducing alcohol-related harm in your community. The target audience for this introductory level activity includes clinical healthcare professionals who prescribe medications in outpatient or inpatient settings. This activity addresses the following ACGME Competencies: Patient Care and Procedural Skills; Medical Knowledge; Professionalism; and Systems-Based Practice Learning Objectives Upon completion, learners will be able to: 1. Explain the benefits of integrating AUD treatment in primary care settings. 2. Identify common barriers and challenges to addressing AUD in primary care and strategies to overcome them. 3. Identify tools and resources that support integrating MAUD into primary care workflows. 4. Explain the importance of collaboration and effective communication in integrating MAUD into primary care. 5. Develop personalized AUD treatment plans incorporating MAUD, behavioral therapies, and specialty care referrals. 6. Apply patient-centered communication to educate patients about MAUD, address concerns, and encourage treatment adherence.
