The goal of this program is to improve the use of awake fiberoptic intubation in the emergency department and the management of gallstone disease and common bile duct stones
1. Identify patients with potentially difficult airways as good candidates for awake fiberoptic intubation.
2. Elaborate on the recommended preparation steps, equipment, and approaches for awake fiberoptic intubation.
3. Use appropriate diagnostic tools for patients with suspected gallstone disease.
4. Optimize the timing of surgical intervention for gallstone disease.
5. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of using a transcystic or transcholedochotomy approach for common bile duct exploration.
