The goal of this program is to improve the management of issues with confidentiality from a clinician s perspective. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Distinguish confidentiality and privilege. 2. Discuss permitted and mandatory exceptions for breach of confidentiality. 3. Assess the risk for potential harm in patients with a history of violent tendencies. 4. Strategize techniques to mitigate harm to potential victims or the public. 5. Recognize moral and legal obligations that psychiatrists and psychologists face regarding patient confidentiality.
