The goal of this program is to improve management of spinal cord injury (SCI), management of paroxysmal sympathetic hyperactivity (PSH), and management of disorders of consciousness. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Relate time to surgery after SCI with improved outcomes. 2. Select patients with SCI for treatment with steroids. 3. Recognize signs and symptoms of PSH in patients with traumatic brain injury. 4. Differentiate the locked-in state of consciousness from the comatose state. 5. Use diagnostic modalities to identify patients with cognitive motor dissociation.
