The goal of this program is to improve physician-patient commu-nication and improve management of pediatric developmental-behavioral issues. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify the various types of jargon and impacts on health-care delivery.
2. Optimize verbalization of clinical information to patients and families through reduction of jargon, use of single-word swaps, and assessment of patient and family comprehension.
3. Reframe the delivery of difficult medical news to patients and families through reduction of bias.
4. Define the role of developmental-behavioral pediatricians in the care of children with developmental and behavioral issues.
5. Analyze evidence-based data regarding management of temper tantrums, COVID-19 fears, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and concurrent autism spectrum disorder.
