The goal of this program is to improve management of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries requiring graft reconstruction, root tears of the medial meniscus of the knee, and focal cartilage knee defects. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify the benefits and drawbacks of common graft options for ACL reconstruction.
2. Compare patient-reported and functional outcomes between patellar tendon (PT) and hamstring tendon (HT) autografts for ACL reconstruction.
3. Summarize the biomechanics and kinematics of a knee with a posterior root tear of medial meniscus.
4. Develop management strategies to optimize long-term out-comes of root tears of the medial meniscus.
5. Choose a treatment strategy for management of knee cartilage lesions based on patient factors and lesion size.
