Lingual Tonsillectomy Pearls and Practice in Adult and Pediatric OSA (2022 AMW)

Lingual tonsil hypertrophy is a common contributor to obstructive sleep apnea. Expanding the scope of surgical treatment to address LTH can improve surgical outcomes. The goal of this session will focus on non-robotic methods of lingual tonsillectomy including diagnostic evaluation, surgical techniques, post operative care and complications. Diagnostic issues will include office exam, drug induced sleep endoscopy, and imaging studies. Adult, pediatric, and pediatric special needs (Downs Syndrome) surgical techniques include methods to manage the supraglottis and avoiding major complications will be covered. Algorithms for post operative observation and pain control will be discussed.
