PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Medicolegal factors contribute to increasing healthcare costs through the direct costs of malpractice litigation, malpractice insurance premiums, and defensive medicine. Malpractice litigation trends are constantly changing as a result of technological innovations and changes in laws. This presentation will be an interactive session to engage the audience in discussion of otolaryngologic malpractice issues. Recent legal decisions related to otolaryngology will be reviewed and tips/pearls to decrease medicolegal liability and enhance patient safety will be discussed.
