The goal of this program is to improve allocation of resources for liver transplantation and provision of liver transplants from high-risk donors in the new era of organ allocation. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Review recent updates to the regulatory structure and framework for organ transplantation. 2. Determine patient eligibility for liver transplantation. 3. Develop strategies to expand the donor pool of organs. 4. Describe current strategies used to reduce disparity in the allocation of organs for transplantation. 5. Summarize the benefits and risks associated with use of liver transplants from living donors, donors after circulatory death, and increased risk donors.
