The goal of this program is to improve management of macular traction disorders. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Describe the interaction between the vitreous and retina in different types of macular traction disorders.
2. Utilize optical coherence tomography to guide decision-making for surgical intervention of macular traction disorders.
3. Predict which cases of vitreomacular traction syndrome and macular holes are most likely to resolve spontaneously.
4. Select appropriate surgical techniques to address complex macular holes.
5. Assess the benefits and risks of vitrectomy and peeling of the internal limiting membrane in diabetic macular edema and lamellar macular holes.
