The UCSD Simulation Training Center offers a one-day simulation training course in anesthesia crisis management. We are endorsed by the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) and are a part of its Simulation Education Network (SEN). With this endorsement, UCSD joins an elite group of over 47 centers nationwide. We have undergone a rigorous review of our facilities, personnel, and curriculum to receive ASA endorsement as a certified MOCA Simulation Center. Simulation education is an innovative training style that enables the physician anesthesiologist to practice problem-solving, communication, and procedural skills in a setting that mimics the real clinical experience of an operating room, intensive care unit, and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). Our courses feature multiple unique cases written by us and tailored to our participants based on their practice environment and subspecialties. All participants will be the primary anesthesiologist in one simulation case and serve as observer or back-up anesthesiologist in the other cases. We provide a safe learning environment with formally-trained simulation instructors who are active UCSD anesthesia faculty.
