The goal of this program is to improve the management of cirrhosis and the use of nonopioid analgesics for postoperative pain management. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Compare various diagnostic methods for cirrhosis.
2. Recognize the role of nonselective beta-blockers in cirrhosis and refractory ascites.
3. Develop management strategies for cirrhosis-related comorbidities.
4. Recommend appropriate nonopioid pharmacologic treatments for managing perioperative pain.
5. Identify the risks and benefits of using nonopioid therapeutic strategies for the management of postoperative pain.
