The goal of this program is to improve interpretation and follow-up of abnormal liver tests, management of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (FLD) and identification of patients eligible for liver transplantation. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Choose an appropriate imaging modality for patients with suspected liver abnormalities.
2. Prescribe effective pharmacologic interventions for the treatment of FLD.
3. Recommend lifestyle interventions for treating FLD.
4. Identify limitations of the Model for End-stage Liver Disease (MELD) score.
5. Assess the efficacy of steroid therapy for patients with alcoholic hepatitis.
