PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This session will help participants learn to deal with common, and uncommon, complications in endoscopic sinus surgery. Practical, evidence-based, real world advice will be discussed regarding both operative and post-operative complications. Furthermore, there will also be a focus on pre-operative considerations to prevent complications from happening in the first place. The goal of this session is to give participants tools with which to practically manage a wide variety of complications in endoscopic sinus surgery.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Review practical pre-operative steps to avoid complications in sinus surgery.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Discuss prevention, recognition and management of intra-operative complications in endoscopic sinus surgery.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Elucidate pearls in the management of post-operative complications of endoscopic sinus surgery.BACKGROUND STATEMENT: This topic addresses one of the last discussed parts of medical practice, complications. By providing an open forum, and discussing our own complications and real-world solutions, we hope to give all physicians the confidence in dealing with complications when they arise.
