NOTE: This activity is available only as part of a paid subscription series; it is not available for purchase as a single, stand-alone activity.

The goal of this program is to improve management of patients on mechanical ventilation (MV) and the use of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathways in colorectal surgery. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Implement techniques that improve survival rates of patients on MV.
2. Assess patients on MV to determine eligibility for spontaneous breathing trials and discontinuation of MV.
3. Develop strategies to reduce length of stay in the intensive care unit and improve patient outcomes.
4. Recognize indications and contraindications for ERAS pathways for colorectal surgery.
5. Incorporate current evidence-based recommendations for bowel preparation and fluid management for colorectal surgeries.
