The course will provide an overview of developmental surveillance and address gaps in knowledge and performance that exist among pediatric clinicians related to routinely conducting developmental surveillance at each health supervision visit. The content will provide an overview of AAPs clinical report for incorporating developmental surveillance in the practice setting and how surveillance and screening support each other in early identification of children at risk for developmental delays and disabilities. Topics covered will include strategies for incorporating the components of surveillance into a practice workflow, ways to partner and communicate with families about developmental milestones and identifying concerns, and how to utilize a team-based approach to implement developmental surveillance.
