The goal of this program is to improve the management of low back pain (LBP). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Explain the physiology of the intersegmental muscles and their role in movement of the spine.
2. Cite evidence from the literature describing changes in the multifidus muscle associated with LBP.
3. List studies that describe arthrogenic muscle inhibition and its effects on patients with LBP.
4. Choose patients for whom lumbar radiofrequency ablation should be recommended.
5. Use implantable neurostimulation devices in patients with LBP.
