Obesity is one of the leading causes of preventable death. Obesity-related increases metabolic and cardiovascular risk occur at a lower body mass index in Asian adults. While Asians are often categorized into a single group, the prevalence of obesity and its comorbidities varies across different Asian subgroups. There is a need to improve the recruitment of Asian participants of heterogeneous backgrounds in national surveys, clinical trials, and intervention studies to better manage obesity and related comorbidities in those groups.
