Obesity medicine clinicians routinely care for patients with diabetes and treatment often results in significant changes in blood glucose and is associated with a high risk for hypoglycemia. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is a tool recommended for use in patients with diabetes and has demonstrated improved glucose control and reduced episodes of hypoglycemia. For this reason, the obesity medicine clinician should be familiar with when and how to use this technology in clinical practice. This presentation will review CGM technology, clinical guidelines recommending CGM use, interpretation of CGM readings, and a general overview of revenue associated with CGM use in the clinic.
