Obesity is steadily increasing in the Veteran population, with an estimated 78% of Veterans being classified as overweight or obese. The goal of this two-part series is to increase the interprofessional healthcare teams’ knowledge of obesity bias, and causes, comorbidities, and medical treatments of obesity. This training will focus on misconceptions of the etiology of obesity and how this can lead to obesity bias. We will consider numerous comorbidities that occur with obesity and how these can be addressed with weight loss. We will also address how excess weight and weight loss surgery effect contraception, fertility and pregnancy. This recorded virtual, knowledge-based webinar will also review medical treatments of obesity including the basics of diet, exercise, addressing psychological contributors, and weight loss medications.
