While a nutritious diet and active lifestyle are the foundation of optimal weight and good health, the appeal of a quick fix is strong. Approximately one-third of adults in the United States have used dietary weight-loss supplements. This activity reviews the types, indications, contraindications, actions, and adverse effects of available non-prescription weight-loss supplements and highlights the role of the interprofessional team in managing patients with overweight and obesity.
