The goal of this program is to improve the management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) using medications, surgery, and therapy, patient outcomes through recognition of the association between OSA and the microbiome, and multilevel surgical management of OSA. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify the pathophysiologic mechanisms and physiologic changes of OSA.
2. Administer medications in the management of OSA.
3. Explain the effect of increased Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio in OSA.
4. List the order of surgical procedures in multilevel staged surgery in OSA.
5. Evaluate evidence found through multilevel staged surgery in the management of OSA.
