Odds & E.N.D.S. (Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems): Insights on E-Cigs - Module 7 (Enduring)

Odds & ENDS is an educational podcast series created by the VISN 1 Tobacco Treatment Program to help keep VA clinicians informed on electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS). Many smokers are turning to ENDS to help quit smoking cigarettes despite the lack of professional consensus supporting their effectiveness as a cessation tool. Healthcare providers are increasingly asked for advice by their patients on ENDS use, and research shows that patient advice is given in an inconsistent fashion as there is disagreement among healthcare professionals regarding the safety of ENDS and balancing their effectiveness in helping individuals to quit smoking with the potential health risks. To address this gap, this series covers the latest research and clinical recommendations on e-cigarettes, vaping, and other emerging nicotine products. Episodes provide overviews of various topics associated with ENDS including components, regulations, prevalence, health risks, and considerations for tobacco cessation. This asynchronous, knowledge-based learning series will summarize research findings on ENDS as well as other emerging nicotine and vaping products for the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The goal of this learning series is to improve patient care through increasing VA healthcare providers knowledge of ENDS to better address patient questions and offer informed guidance on these rapidly evolving products. The learning series is separated into specific learning modules for flexible self-paced learning. This module contains two episodes that cover: Behavioral Counseling and THC Vaping.
