The goal of this program is to improve anesthesia during ophthalmic plastic surgery and to improve prevention of diplopia after administration of anesthesia for cataract surgery. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Utilize clinical pearls to optimize anesthesia for common ophthalmic plastic surgeries.
2. Compare and contrast the benefits and risks of monitored anesthesia care and general anesthesia for common ophthalmic plastic surgeries.
3. Identify situations in which conversion from monitored anesthesia care to general anesthesia may be beneficial during ophthalmic plastic surgeries.
4. Optimize use of anesthesia in cataract surgery.
5. List the benefits of hyaluronidase in cataract surgery.
