Having dementia does not always mean a person cannot make decisions for themselves. Being over 95 does not always mean a person cannot live alone successfully. In this module, we will explore how healthcare team members can advocate for their older adult patients to ensure they can live in the least restrictive environment, safely maintain their independence to the degree possible, and enjoy life to the fullest. This goal will be considered over two training modules. Part 1 will cover assessing decision-making capacity. Part 2 will cover identifying risks for older adult mistreatment and the influence of social determinants of health.
