Mental and behavioral health care in diabetes is critical but not everyone has training or experience addressing these needs. When we try, patients may be hesitant to focus on their mental health needs. The purpose of this recorded, knowledge-based webinar is to provide interdisciplinary/interprofessional healthcare teams with knowledge to address mental health issues that may be experienced by patients diagnosed with diabetes. During this training, the presenter will review interconnectedness of physician and psychological health, diabetes distress, comorbidities and associated impacts, among other topics. Ultimately, this session will help providers understand what their patients with diabetes may be experiencing during the phases of disease progression. It will help the providers support their patients’ whole health, including both physical and mental health needs.
