PEDIATRIC VASCULAR ACCESS/VENTILATOR MANAGEMENT

The goal of this program is to improve pediatric vascular access using advanced techniques, and management of patients on the ventilator in the operating room. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Compare the success rate of anatomic, ultrasonography-guided, and near-infrared techniques for vascular access in pediatric patients.
2. Optimize techniques for ultrasonography-guided vascular access in pediatric patients.
3. Use the principles of induction physiology to manage critically ill patients who require anesthesia.
4. Implement strategies for early ventilator management in critically ill patients transferred from the intensive care unit to the operating room.
5. Identify risks associated with positive pressure ventilation in critically ill patients.
