The goal of this program is to improve management of pelvic fracture, iatrogenic time management, sedation in the intensive care unit (ICU), and palliative care in the ICU. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Develop an algorithm to control hemorrhage and manage unstable patients with pelvic fracture.
2. Identify and reduce prehospital and intrahospital delays in emergency care.
3. Manage sedated patients using the recommendations in the Pain, Agitation/sedation, Delirium, Immobility (mobilization/rehabilitation), and Sleep (disruption) guidelines (2018).
4. Select appropriate medications for inducing light sedation and for prevention of delirium.
5. Implement end-of-life care practices to reduce the suffering of the patient and assist the family members with their grieving.
