The goal of this program is to improve stratification of surgical risk and management of patients requiring antimicrobial therapy. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Use validated tools to estimate perioperative risk.
2. Monitor patients for myocardial injury after noncardiac surgery.
3. Choose medications which may reduce the risk for postoperative myocardial infarction.
4. Shorten courses of antimicrobial therapy for select patients.
5. Select the appropriate duration for antimicrobial therapy for patients with intra-abdominal infections.
