The goal of this program is to improve management of rectal cancer in older adults and treatment of diverticulitis. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Cite surgical outcomes in rectal cancer in older adults. 2. Use total neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in management of rectal cancer in older adults. 3. Summarize the risk factors for diverticular disease. 4. Compare antibiotic use with observation in management of uncomplicated acute diverticulitis. 5. Explain outcomes using laparoscopic lavage in patients with purulent peritonitis.
