Pharmacogenomics (or PGx) is a multidisciplinary aspect of healthcare that can provide more personalized treatment for patients. This approach to healthcare, while gaining interest at the provider level, requires the support of one’s institution to be a successful aspect of care. Implementation at the institutional level requires local PGx provider champions that can advocate for the needs of a PGx team/program. This module will discuss the key elements needed for a successful PGx program, the current challenges and barriers that PGx faces in hospital systems, and the future state of PGx.
