The purpose of this web-based training Pharmacy Informatics Certificate VA FileMan Basic Self-Study course is for the Pharmacy Informaticists to obtain knowledge of VistA pharmacy file structure and the report options in VA FileMan. The participants have access to PBM VistA training account to reinforce learning by applying knowledge completing exercises in hands-on environment to produce sample reports using new skills. Pharmacy Informaticists require knowledge to produce accurate reports. The report results are used to enhance patient safety and ensure efficient use of pharmacy resources to meet the mission of VHA. The VHA Pharmacy Workforce Assessment FY19 survey indicated the percentage of pharmacists likely to participate in VA developed Informatics Professional Certificate Program increased from 69% to 88% in 2 years. The American Society of Health System Pharmacist (ASHP) survey for education ranked data analytic skills as a top priority for pharmacy informatics in 2019. This knowledge-based module will give VHA staff the tools to produce accurate reports from pharmacy and related files which ensure accurate databases that are used to provide safe medication management to our Veteran patients.
