The goal of this program is to improve the management of postcesarean delivery pain in opioid-dependent patients. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Anticipate maternal and neonatal complications of opioid use in pregnancy.
2. Select appropriate medications for medication-assisted treatment in pregnant women with opioid use disorder.
3. Identify individuals who are at increased risk for postcesarean delivery pain related to opioid use disorder.
4. Utilize the stepwise multimodal treatment approach to pain management after cesarean delivery.
5. Choose appropriate opioid and nonopioid medications for postcesarean delivery analgesia that are safe for use during breastfeeding.
