The goal of this program is to improve postpartum care and manage ment of perinatal and postpartum hypertension (HTN). After hear ing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Explain US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Maternal Mortality Review Committees data on pregnancy related deaths occurring in the postpartum period. 2. Implement the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommendations for postpartum care. 3. Identify the threshold for diagnosis and treatment of chronic hypertension in pregnant and postpartum patients. 4. Implement use of blood pressure measurements for patients with high-risk pregnancy in the home setting. 5. Use shorter courses or lower-dose regimens of magnesium sulfate in postpartum patients without eclampsia
