Learning Objectives: Learners will assemble a step-wise therapy approach to prevent COPD exacerbation and increase the quality of life/decrease dyspnea. Learners will articulate specific medication names in order to better apply combination therapy to reduce the burden of medication load on patients. Learners will identify steps within medication algorithms that combination therapies could reduce the financial burden and increase compliance. Learners will convey to patients the impact that optimized COPD management has on quality of life and exacerbation frequency. Giving medication names and not classes alone will help and allow learners to apply combination therapy to reduce the burden of medication load to a patient. Learners will reconstruct the way we assemble medication algorithms to create more room for increased compliance by decreasing the number of inhalers used, which in many cases, reduces the financial burden of patients. Learners will improve the quality of life of their patients and decrease their exacerbation by applying effective combination therapies and assembling a stepwise therapy approach to treating and preventing COPD.
