The goal of this program is to improve management of stroke during pregnancy and management of acute ischemic stroke using tissue plasminogen activators. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Cite factors that increase risk for stroke in pregnant women.
2. Select appropriate imaging studies for pregnant women with a suspected stroke.
3. Develop treatment strategies for prevention and management of stroke during the pregnancy and postpartum period.
4. Compare the characteristics, pharmacokinetics, clinical efficacy, and safety of tenecteplase and alteplase for the management of stroke.
5. Identify situations in which tenecteplase may be beneficial in the management of stroke.
