PRIMARY HYPERPARATHYROIDISM/NONINVASIVE VENTILATION IN CHRONIC RESPIRATORY FAILURE

The goal of this program is to improve management of hyperparathyroidism and chronic respiratory failure using noninvasive ventilation. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Select patients with primary hyperparathyroidism who are eligible for parathyroidectomy.
2. Develop approaches for nonsurgical management of primary hyperparathyroidism.
3. Diagnose and manage patients with normocalcemic primary hyperparathyroidism and secondary hyperparathyroidism.
4. Use advanced modes of noninvasive ventilation for management of chronic respiratory failure.
5. Identify criteria for prescribing respiratory assistance devices and ventilators.
