The goal of this program is to improve use of procalcitonin (PCT) levels as a basis for antibiotic administration in infections and use of gram-negative antibiotics. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinicians will be better able to:
1. List evidence from the PRORATA trial showing effectiveness using PCT levels in patients as a guide for administration of antibiotics.
2. Optimize administration of antibiotics using study outcomes regarding PCT algorithms.
3. Compare effectiveness of imipenem-relebactam compared with imipenem-colistin based on the RESTORE-IMI 1 study.
4. Differentiate between tebipenem and ertapenem in complicated urinary tract infection.
5. Use sulopenem in patients resistant to ciprofloxacin.
