The AHN Department of Radiology monitors several data metrics as part of its mission to improve quality and maximize patient safety. These quality metrics are collected at all hospital sites and reviewed quarterly at a departmental conference. The metrics include critical result reporting, report turnaround times, central line infections, contrast reactions/extravasations, rapid responses/codes, patient falls, employee injuries, imaging volumes, medication misadministrations, root cause analysis, random audits for moderate sedation assessment, handwashing for procedures and procedure timeouts. During the conference the data is presented in a powerpoint format and compared with previous quarters to assess for trends.
