RCHSD Pediatric Airway and Safety Training Program - Part A

RCHSD Pediatric Airway and Safety Training Program - Part A

Advanced airway management, including endotracheal intubation, is a necessary skill in the stabilization of the critically ill pediatric patient. Due to the greater use of non-invasive airway management, the relative rarity of pediatric intubations limits the opportunities for providers to become competent in this and other airway procedures. This modular airway training program utilizes online training modules, provided by Children Hospital of Philadelphia, followed by intense, hands-on airway training and simulation at the Rady’s Innovation Learning Center. For UCSD/Rady’s attendings from ED and ICU departments, up to six hours of airway training under the direct supervision of an attending anesthesiologist can occur in the Rady’s operating rooms.
